It's Beverly Hillbillies Costa Rica style! We are off with the dogs, and the trusty Land Cruiser "Goldie" is packed to the roof with all the stuff we will need for the next 5 months--wherever we may be. For the next 3 days, we will be in our crash pad in San Jose at Casa Rosich.
Casa Rosich is a lovely home in Escazu in San Jose. The house was built by the heir to the Mas pro Menos fortune in Costa Rica and her retired British professional boxer husband. In deference to the husband's heritage, the house is English Cottage style. It was built in the 70's and housed a family that included 5 children. In her middle age, sadly the owner died during a cosmetic surgery procedure, and her bereft husband sold the house to a prominent San Jose dentist, Dr. Rosich. His widow still lives in the house.
This is the living room of our San Jose "crash pad." This is our stopover for 3 days until we fly to Cartagena for Christmas. We are leaving most of our stuff here, and only taking beach wear with us on vacation. The dogs seem to be thinking, "Well, this place is OK, but when can we go back to our big house in Manuel Antonio?"
Fortunately, Casa Rosich was built with a lovely rear garden. Our crash pad opens onto the covered terrace and garden, so Roxy and Frannie can run and play outside.
Casa Rosich also comes with three cats: Penny, Tammy, and Colito (Little Tail) the 28-pound tomcat. Frannie of course knows that cats are not supposed to be around us at any time, so she gave Penny a chase in the back yard until we made Frannie mind her manners. Roxy, in her typical style, got loose and went upstairs to the main house to pay a social call on Dona Lily, the owner. She didn't expect to encounter Colito at the top of the stairs. She put on the brakes, and I'm sure she was thinking, "Holy St. Bernard! That looks like a cat, only bigger!" We rescued her quickly.
Three nights of organization in our crash pad, and we are ready to begin Christmas in Cartagena.
