When we decided to bring the dogs along on our Christmas vacation to Cartagena, we knew it would be more trouble traveling with them. I was all for it. Tim was, shall we say, less enthusiastic.
Our local vet Dr. Desiree Delgado prepared the necessary papers, including the omnipresent "especial estamps" needed for most legal documents in Costa Rica. We were given a Documento para Exportacion des Animales which we had to hand carry to the Ministerio de Agriculture at the airport in San Jose. Fortunately, we got the final signature and "estamp" and we were ready to go.
Frannie and Roxy had not flown in 5-6 years, so we weren't sure how they would do. As you can see, once we were seated on the plane, they chilled out. Note their "Emotional Service Animal" official vests. That's a whole other story about who emotionally supports whom!
Arrival in Cartagena at the Hilton Hotel on the beach in Boca Grande in Cartagena. This is the only hotel in Cartagena that accepts dogs. This will be our home for two weeks.
The lobby is decorated for Christmas. The hotel has everything we will need: pool, gym, restaurants, and of course shopping. Frankly, after going through all our stuff in Casa Pura Vista, we are not in the mood to buy more "stuff."
The view from our room: The pool area and the Bahia de Cartagena beyond. Frannie and Roxy are already thinking, "Now this is more like it!"
After an early buffet dinner poolside, it is time for bed. We are all four travel weary and in need of rest. Buenas Noche, Cartagena!
